About us

For Bute opened the doors of its community thrift shop in March 2013, with the aim of supporting good causes on Bute. The idea came about because the founders wanted to help Bute Community Links (and others) who were doing good work on the island but were suffering from a lack of funding. (See full story in The Buteman).

Our priority is supporting local groups and individuals on Bute, so we keep our overheads to a minimum, pay no salaries, and put ALL our profits into local good causes suggested by the community. For Bute also refurbished and reopened the Ardencraig Gardens Tea Room (all staffed by volunteers) for the summer 2014, as a way to boost our community funds.

We will happily pick up goods from homes, do full house clearances and otherwise help you to help your community. If you want to donate -- or if you would like to suggest a worthy cause for support -- give us a call or stop by the shop.
